Plot Summary : The heading personalities are tykes inside the exuberant plus colorful Ekdahl home inside a Swedish town too soon inside the twentieth century. Their parents, Oscar plus Emilie, are the director plus the leading grown-up person of the local theatre company. Oscar’s mama plus male relative are its principal patrons. After Oscar’s too soon death, his widow marries the bishop plus moves and her tykes to his austere plus forbidding chancery. The tykes are instantaneously miserable. The motion picture dramatizes plus resolves those conflicts. A sub-plot attributes Isak, a local Jewish merchant who is the grandmother’s lady friend plus whose unusual home becomes the children’s refuge.
